In Te Ngahere the kapa haka roopu is relearning the original way of Aha Ngapuhi. We have to learnt it again because, as Ngapuhi, we want one haka that is all the same instead of one haka with many versions. What I found hard was pronouncing the words at the end. Now that I have it stuck in my head it is much easier to understand. What I learnt from this was people got lazy back then and didn't want to pronounce it properly.
Have you ever had to learn something again?
Kia ora Stilly it’s Harlem. I really enjoyed reading your post about re-learning the Haka it is really great how you said “back then people got lazy and did not pronounce the words properly”. It was a great post to read. Keep up the good ka kite
ReplyDeleteHi Stilly, its Fonz from Te Ngahere. I really liked your blog post about “Aha Ngapuhi”. I thought it was cool how you shared our learning and I really enjoyed learning it with you at Kapa Haka. I think its good that all the Ngapuhi Roopu all learn the same haka with the same actions and kupu. Did you enjoy learning this haka? Thanks for blogging and keep up the great work.
ReplyDeleteKia ora Isaiah; its Kingi, I like your post about learning the proper actions and kupu to Aha Ngapuhi. I get how you said it was hard for you to learn the actions and kupu at the start. But that sounds good that you have them stuck in you head. Yeah I have had to learn something again quit a lot of times, so I know how you feel. But keep up the good work and keep posting. Blog you later.
