Smoothie Making

Yesterday Te Ngahere got to make healthy smoothies with Whaea Gina for energise. She made them with everyone else too. Some people got picked to do things such as putting the ingredients in and blending them. I think they tasted yum as and I wouldn’t mind having another one.

We got to do activities like learn how Waitangi got its name, what the maori word is for items in the class and the maori words for the days of the week. I really liked when we got to learn the days of the week because we got to play with the ukuleles. After we did the activities we went back to class so we can pack up for the day.

Problem Of Gaming

In Te Ngahere this term we have been learning about how much time we spend gaming. Our teacher Mr Lindsay made a quiz that had questions about gaming. When we finished the quiz Mr Lindsay made a slide show to show us how many people have played an online game. We also looked at how many people have lied to their parents, and how much time you spend gaming. I was surprised that 25% of people in Te Ngahere have problems sleeping because of gaming.

Beeswax Wraps

In Te Ngahere this term we have been learning about beeswax wraps. We are making beeswax wraps because we are trying to stop people from using glad wrap. After morning tea we had to get a piece of fabric to draw on. I wrote all of my friends names on like Keekee, Anyah, Boombe, Fonz, Lesane, Tarquin, Muscles, Ezra, Major, Rikki and Missy. Then we had to run over to the whare kai and put our fabric in a pan of melted beeswax. Beeswax is a natural product made by honey bees.

7s Rugby Tournament

On Tuesday some year 8s, 7s and 6s went to Moerewa to play 7s rugby. We played Kerikeri, Kaingaroa and Okaihau, there were other teams like Kaikohe and Kawakawa but we didn’t played them. We won one and lost two, our last game we just lost by one. Anyah and I are very lucky because we were the only year 6s to go. After that we had some fish and chips for lunch. I think I did well at giving it my all in the games. I also think I did well at working with my team.

Healthy Drinks

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about healthy drinks. Whaea Gina came in to tell us how much sugar we are putting into our bodies. There was a variety of drinks like Coke, E2, Powerade, Milk, Water, Juice, V and Mother. There were also pieces of paper that were red, orange and green. The green means you can have it every day, the orange means have it once a week and red means have it once a month. I learnt that some of  the drinks that people drink have about 10 teaspoons of sugar.

My Worst Accident

In Te Ngahere we have been doing writing about something that had happened in your life. I did writing about my worst accident because I flipped off my bike when I was 7. When I flipped off my bike I slit my chin open. I think I did well at explaining what happened to me. Next time I can add more detail. We also did this writing so we can know what level we are.

Bay Bush Action

In Te Ngahere this term we have been learning about endemic,

Native and introduced birds. We also had some visitor from Bay Bush Action come in and tell as more things about birds, their names were Brad and Stella. If you don’t know what Bay Bush Action is it is a group of people that protect endemic and native birds so they don't go extinct. They also kill pests like possums, cats, dogs, stoats and rats. We also got to place rat traps around the school to see if we get anything. Our goal this year is to be the first rat free school in New Zealand!! Here is some photos of as placing some traps.

Moment In Time

In Te Ngahere  (our class) this term we have been writing about te Ngahere (the bush). We  had to write a piece of writing called a moment in time. When we were writing we had to describe what we could see, hear, feel and smell. I think I could have done a bit more writing and added more ideas. I also I really did well at explaining what I did. here is my writing

Kererus singing beautiful melodies as they fly delicately around, that smell of wet bark flowing into everyone's noses, long big kauri tree waving to a kowhai tree, a moving in the bush, big widow spider slowly crawling on the kauri tree, raging wind flowing through everyone's hair, big kauri tree waving to people,

Last term in Te Ngahere we had been learning about food chains. To share our learning we made animations about what we had learnt. We also had to say what the things are and what they do. When we finished we had to Screencastify our voice into it and show the class. I think I did really well at putting my voice in because it was clear and loud. I really enjoyed learning about food chains. What I think I could have done better was explaining what I have learnt.

Here is my animation hope you enjoy watching it.

Pepeha

My blog post link

Te Ngahere and we have been learning how to say our pepeha. I really enjoyed when I learnt how to do my pepeha because now I know how to introduce my family. I think I really did well with not giving up because when I tried to do my pepeha it was so hard because I didn't know how to spell some of the maori words but I ended up doing it.

Isaiah is

In Te Ngahere we have been learning to do metaphors

so we made a poem. I really like doing this because we got to write cool and funny metaphors I think I need to work on doing more poems because I haven't done enough. This is also my first draft.

Isaiah is...

Isaiah is a Cheetah sprinting through his learning.

Isaiah is a Monkey swinging past his learning.

Isaiah is a pair of rugby shoes scoring tries all day.

Isaiah is a Rabbit cute and cuddly.

Isaiah is the sky tower, towering over his learning.

What I am and what I feel like. I think I could of done better at
