100 Word Story Challenge

Here is my 2nd 100 word story the picture from pobble365.com the forest

One second you saw it, the next you didn’t. The ghostly shadow vanished once again. She had come too far to turn back now. Goosebumps prickled on her cold, clammy skin, she was sure she could hear her heart thumping inside her chest like a fluttering bird begging to be let out of its cage. Pulling her scarf tightly around herself, she stepped forward into the woods, towards the place where the shadow had been. The fog seemed to be alive. It danced amongst the trees, sneaked and slithered in and out of the branches being the sentinels of the night.

100 Word Story Challenge

Here is my first 100 word story the picture from pobble365.com the shadow

It was one dark gloomy night I was preparing to explore an unknown location. I didn’t really know about this unknown location, but apparently every night at 3:am if you're lucky you might even see the old man that creeps around the sight. No one has ever seen him, only his shadow. His boat travels silently up and down the river every night. High in the tree, the door remains shut, lit only by a single light. No visitors are seen, no noises heard, only the slight creaking of the wooden path leading to and from the tree…. BANG!!

The Awesome game we played

In Te Ngahere last week we had a opportunity to learn how to play t-ball. We had a awesome lady call Whaea Kasey come in and teach us. I really enjoyed playing and working together with my team. The thing I struggled with was trying to hit the ball perfect, but on my second and third try I got the hang of it. I hope we can have another game with Whaea Kasey.

Have you ever played t-ball because if you have are you good at hitting the ball?

The Things I Learnt This Week

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about verbs and adverbs so when you have identified a word or phrase it can create a mood or paint a picture in your head. A verb is a doing word and a adverb is a word that describes how a verb is done I think it was a little tricky in the start but throughout the week I learnt more and more and it became easier. My buddy was Dale and we work good together we also helped each other a lot.

Do you learn verbs and adverbs at your school?

My Day At College

In Te Ngahere on Wednesday me and the year 8s went to Bay Of Islands College for the orientation day. First we had to catch the Bay bus so it can take us, we also had to meet up at the library when we all got there. When we all met up we had some students from Bay take us around and show us the different classes. The classes we went to were metal work, woodwork, social studies, science, PE, art and maori. I think the favourite class I went to was woodwork. Here is the Bay Colleges Link

When your a year 8 are you going to the orientation day?

Te Huarere

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about te huarere ( the weather ). We have been learning in maori how to say it’s sunny, it’s cold, it’s windy and it’s rainy. We had to get into groups of one or two so you can go off and try to make a news report in maori but first we had to make a script. My group was Chum, I think we work good together and we help each other. The thing I found hard was trying to say it in maori fast.

Have you ever made a news report?

The Awesome Art I’m Doing

This week in Te Ngahere we have been doing art. For art we are doing calendar art. For our WALT we needed to draw continuous lines, draw curves, rule straight lines, select colours for effect and blend colour. I really enjoy doing art and blending colours. The thing I struggle with is trying to use my arm not my wrist to draw the curved bits in the koru, at the end I think I will get the hang of it.

The Interesting Thing I Have Been Doing

In Te Ngahere we have finished launching rockets. For the past 3 weeks we have been designing and making rockets out of cardboard and two 1.5 litre bottles. My group was Anyah, Mihi, Chum and myself. The thing I struggled with was trying to glue the rocket together but at the end mine and my groups rockets turn out good. Here is a video of my groups rocket launching. I hope we can do something like this again.

Have you ever made a rocket?

The Interesting Thing I Have Been Doing

In Te Ngahere we have been making movies for the Kaikohekohe festival. For my movie my group and I decided to make one about rap and our plan was to mix school and education into it. The thing I have learnt about making movies is you have to be patient and it also really hard. I think the thing I struggled with was trying to put my movie together but at the end I got the hang of it. The sources we have used to make our movie is imovie.

Have you ever made a movie and do you think after this you would want to make one?

Sharing My Knowledge On Te Reo Maori

In Te Ngahere for the past 3 weeks we have been doing Te Reo Maori. For Te Reo Maori we have been learning how to pronounce Maori words properly. We first started by reading a Maori book every day and copying after our teacher. I think the thing I struggled with is trying to put the right maori word together into a sentence. After a week we got to go off into groups and created a google slide to show what we have learnt. I was with Rymon and I think we done a great job. Here is my screencastify.

Do you enjoy Te Reo Maori?

I Can Help You Keep Your Chromebook Safe

In Te Ngahere for the past 2 weeks we have been learning about kawa of care. Kawa of care is about how to look after your chromebook and the things you need to know about it. The thing that I use to struggle with is keeping my chromebook in my case and remembering to charge at home. I think I have overcome this problem by always remembering what to do. Here is a slide I have made to show people how to look
after their chromebook.

Do you like keeping your chromebook safe?

After they talked to us we went off into groups and made a slide about what we learnt, I really liked doing this because I learnt heaps and it was really interesting. Here is a link to all the stuff I learnt.

I Think You Would Like This Art

In Te Ngahere this week we have been doing Mosaic art. Mosaic art is a type of art that you make out of shapes, the only thing is you cant put the shapes together. I think doing the Mosaic art was hard at first because I didn’t really know how to place the shapes or what angle there supposed to be but eventually I got the hang of it. I really liked doing this Mosaic art because it was fun and interesting. I hope we do something like this again.

Do you like doing art?

I Like Doing Exercise

In Te Ngahere this week we have been training for cross country. Every day we have been going out and doing exercises, first we start off by doing jumping jacks into push ups, then we rotate around and do mountain climbing, after that we do some burpees. After we finished our rotation we have a little game of basketball, soccer, netball or turbo touch. The thing I found hard was doing the russian twists but when I was doing them a lot of times it got easier and easier.

I Can Help You With Your Maths

In Te Ngahere this week I have been learning how to do multiplication with tidy numbers I think it was hard in the start but ended up getting the hang of it. One of my questions was 42 x 5, it looks hard at first but when you break it all up it looks like this 5 x 40 = 200 I changed 42 to 40 because it is a tidy number and then I did 5 x 2 = 10 then 200 + 10 = 210 and that's your answer. I hope you learnt something.

Taniwha Art

In Te Ngahere we have been doing art. For art we all made a taniwha, we had to do a rough copy then move over to our main copy. I really like doing this art because I like doing maori patterns and blending, the only thing I didn’t like was how I rushed mine and didn’t blend properly. We had to go from a a3 to an a4 and that means that it was a bigger copy and we had a lot of drawing to expand to fit the whole page. Other then that I think I did a good job. What do you think about my art?

Trick Shot Challenge

This week in Te Ngahere we have been doing a subject called trick shot challenge, for our trick shot challenge we are making a drawbridge, the equipment we use are ice block sticks and a hot glue gun. My group was Chum and Kai. The thing I liked about this challenge is we got to play with the hot glue and we work well together. What I could do better  is focus more. The only thing I didn't like was we had to sit on the ground, other then that I had a really fun time making a drawbridge.

Have you ever been on a drawbridge.

This week on Monday Te Ngahere had a small turbo touch tournament. There were 8 teams that participated in the tournament. My team was called the seagulls. We played the Crazy Horses and the Tokers. The thing I didn’t like about it was we had to stay in the sun, other then that my team and I had a great game.

Technology

Last week on Wednesday the year 7&8 went to Moerewa School to do technology. When we got there we lined up and walked over to our classes. The year 7s were doing woodwork and the year 8s were doing cooking. We made frittatas with eggs, spinach, onion, garlic, ham, potatoes, kumara, flower, carrots, cheese and salt and pepper. The thing I really liked was working with Rikki Haparona. The thing I need to work on is staying on track. I’m really looking forward to what we make next.
